This isn’t the post I wanted to make today, but I truly believe there is no other option as more and more substantiated, credible reports continue to come in about the seriousness of COVID-19 and how crucial social distancing and self-isolation are in flattening the curve and helping stop this thing. As such, all classes at CFMV are cancelled for the next week, at which point we will reassess.
For the 6 years I’ve owned CFMV, I have prided myself on being committed to the safety of the athletes we train. Proper lifting, proper movements, proper form have always been a priority in keeping everyone who walks through our doors safe. And right now, I can’t guarantee anyone’s safety if we remain open. This is no longer about Clorox wipes or staying 6-feet away from each other. It’s now so much more than that, and the only way I can ensure that none of our athletes get or spread this at our box is by temporarily closing our doors.
I assure you all, this is not the decision I want to make, but it is the only one I can make while remaining committed to your safety, while upholding the mission of CFMV to help see you all at your healthiest. This decision is made with YOU in mind, because I truly do care about each of you. I’ve had to set aside my own fears of what this could mean as a small business owner god forbid an extended closure is required. At a time like this, I worry about our coaches and my own family, and I wonder if I’ll possibly end up needing to put their needs aside so that I can do my part in protecting our larger island community should this not end as quickly as we all hope it will. Like I said, this is not a decision I want to make.
I know many of you – most of you, actually – were hoping CFMV would remain open through this. I discussed with you ways we could possibly make that happen. But we just can’t. And I’m sorry to everyone who was hoping for a different outcome. It pains me, it does, to disappoint.
That said, we will be posting at-home WODs daily. We will create and continue to use our online spaces for sharing WOD times and perhaps even video-chat or FB live WODs together. We will continue to be a community TOGETHER. For those interested, we will be allowing all current members to sign out either a kettlebell or dumbbell; a colored band of your choice; and a jump rope for these at-home WODs. And anyone gung-ho enough to lift and transport an outside mat to their home is also welcome to do so. This is with the understanding that all equipment will be well-cared for and returned pretty much immediately upon reopening.
This is a tough day, no doubt. But here’s knowing we’ll see ya on the other side of this! We continue to appreciate your love and support.
